The Institute of Philosophy of the University of Zurich is organizing a Conference and a Graduate Workshop on "The Philosophy of Translation and the Translation of Philosophy" Dates Conference: Monday, 17th February - Wednesday, 19th February 2014 Workshop: Thursday, 20th February Place University of Zurich, Zurich The conference aims to examine the concept of translation and its place in contemporary analytic philosophy. Although the notion of translation has played an important role throughout the history of analytic philosophy, the notion itself has not been explored sufficiently. The conference intends to address the following questions: What does it mean to translate something, in particular regarding different theories of meaning? What are the criteria for the correctness of a translation? Are conceptual clarifications translatable or are they confined to a language? What is the role of linguistic kinship? Is the translation of philosophical works special?
